Physiotherapy can be used to help manage a wide variety of health conditions that affect many of the body’s systems. Most often these conditions relate to problems with bones, nerves, joints and soft tissues. A few day to day examples of these are painful backs, necks and joints, sports injuries, injury resulting from accidents or rehabilitation after surgery or strokes.

Your clothing should be comfortable such as a loose top, tracksuit or shorts and trainers that you are comfortable to move around in easily. The rehabilitation team need to visually assess you in terms of movement and posture, as well as move different areas of your body, so these needs to be visible.

Yes, you can stop your treatment at any time. However, we do recommend that you complete the planned treatment course as some effects are temporary and require repeated session(s) to have a long term impact.

If you feel the treatment is not achieving the results you anticipate, kindly discuss this with our team as they may be able to offer alternative treatment(s) to achieve the desired results.

If you do stop treatment, and you want to return back to the facility for treatment, the team will have to reassess you to know the support plan that suit you and please note that the support membership fee  is non refundable.

You are more than welcome to have someone to chaperone you during your treatment. In some cases a chaperone is compulsory, such as for children or someone with special needs.

Your first session will involve a full assessment and in most cases treatment and recommendations will be made.

Acupuncture or Dry Needling is a vital part of Chinese medicine and the oldest system of health care. It regulates the body’s ability to heal through the stimulation of different sites on the body with a very fine needle. The results include specific and measureable chemical, electrical and functional changes. For the patient, that response produces decreasing symptoms that last for increasingly longer amounts of time.

Yes acupuncture will work for you. We understand why most of our patients seek help from The Acupuncture Clinic. Typically, they are using acupuncture as an adjunctive therapy to enhance the health care they are receiving or because standard therapies, medications and treatments have been ineffective.

Today more people than ever seek help from acupuncture because it:

•             Relieves pain

•             Helps normalize functional disorders

•             Alleviates nausea

•             Reduces inflammation

•             Boosts immune system

•             Reduces nicotine and drug addiction

•             Promotes whole-body healing

•             Integrates well with traditional medical care

During a typical treatment you will experience minute disposable needles being gently inserted into the skin at specific sites on the body. Because they are extremely thin you will usually only feel a slight sensation. Occasionally either manual rotation or electrical stimulation generating a soft, painless current is applied to add to its effects.

Your treatment will typically last between 20-30 minutes. Often, a feeling of pleasant relaxation or general well-being follows a treatment.

The number of treatments that you will need will vary according to your condition. One or two treatments may be sufficient for some acute conditions. Chronic problems usually require a longer treatment period with results not evident until after a few treatments.

Acupuncture treatments produce a cumulative effect with time, so you will be able to increase the duration of time between visits as the results build.

The treatments themselves do not cure a condition. They can, however, help a patient heal a condition by stimulating the patient’s natural mechanism for healing.

Absolutely! We protect you as well as we protect ourselves.

This varies with each case. Fortunately, in a relatively short time patients are able to discern if the treatments are effective. At that point there should be greater improvement noted that lasts for longer periods of time. Since our patients schedule their treatments on an as-needed basis, they are able to increase the amount of time between visits.

While some insurance carriers recognize acupuncture, others still do not. We encourage patients to check with their individual policy first.

No. As our patients realize results from the treatments, they are able to add more time between treatments until they stop needing treatment or have reached maximum medical improvement.

Some patients do find that they need an occasional treatment to boost the treatment results if activities or time cause the condition to return or increase.

The medical team will begin with a full assessment and physical examination to establish the cause and nature of your condition. After this, the team will look at the results and consider your past medical history to determine, in conjunction with your wishes, what treatment is most fitting for your needs and create a personalized treatment plan

The first appointment will involve a full assessment and will take up to 60 minutes. Following sessions will depend on what your treatment plan requires, however if you have any concerns about timings then you’re welcome to discuss this with us.

The treatment plan is tailored to the individual needs according to the support community they belong, so it is not possible to advise in advance how many sessions will be required. At the first appointment the team will suggest the number of treatments (support community) required based on your assessment.

Some treatment can be uncomfortable but at no stage should you be unable to tolerate the level of discomfort. The team will give you clear guidelines on what to expect during and after treatment. If you have any concerns then you should speak to the team immediately.

We take all concerns and complaints seriously and will make every effort to resolve them to your complete satisfaction. We also regularly review all feedback to continuously improve your experience with us.

If the treatment is not helping you, do discuss these concerns with the team head who will discuss your progress with you throughout your treatment and also recommend what next to do. It may take some time to make improvement if you have suffered such injury for a long period of time.

Acupuncture is an extremely safe therapeutic procedure. Our experience, training and being current in the profession ensure you are given the best and safest care possible.

Your safety and well-being is our primary concern. We use the highest-quality disposable equipment available. We encourage our patients to continue all current treatments, therapies and medications as advised by their physician.

During your first visit you will learn if acupuncture is an appropriate treatment for your condition. A specific number of treatments will be recommended to serve as a trial to determine if your case will respond to acupuncture. You will also have a clear understanding of ways to assess your progress and when to expect results.

An initial visit typically lasts for about 60 minutes. Each treatment after that lasts for about 45 minutes. We try to stay on time because your time is as valuable as ours. We do not double-book appointments for the same reason.

This varies with the individual. Initially the results are short-lived and subtle. Subsequent treatments should provide longer-lasting and greater degrees of improvement. The response will accelerate as the treatments progress.

Ayurveda, Nutritional, herbal and other therapies are often recommended as a way of enhancing the treatment. We will often recommend adjunctive therapies to enhance your care that include therapeutic massage or acupressure with one of our experienced therapists, participation in group events that range from acupressure training to Tai-Chi Chuan exercise, nutritional support or Chinese herbal formulas.

We will recommend a schedule of treatments that will provide the fastest response. The frequency varies by the case. As our patients are feeling better, they are expected to increase the time between visits. This process is continued until there is no longer a need for treatment, or until maximum improvement is realized.

Acupuncture does not block pain. It relieves it. This explains why it usually takes a few visits for the results to manifest.
