Let Talk About Environment

The 5th of June is observed as the World Environment Day every year and environmental discourse is on the front burner these days.
This is due to the fact that the environment has suffered so much degradation especially from pollution which has given rise to a disturbing Global Warming. The Ice Sheets in Antarctica, Ice Land and indeed in the entire North Pole is fast disappearing at an alarming rate that the environment is already loosing some animal species due to habitat loss.
There’s a reason we refer to the earth as ‘Mother Earth’ because like our mother who looks after the house and our well being similarly the Earth through the environment is providing us with all that we need.Since we repay our Mother with good deeds, we also need to repay Mother Earth by conserving what she gives us. We don’t really pay much attention as yet to the importance of our environment, unless there is a change in our attitude that will positively impact on our environment, this might be the folly that may wipe away the future.

Let’s hope that a day never comes where our natural ‘fog’ will turn to ‘smog’ and ‘World Environment Day’ will become ‘World Environment Remembrance Day’.
Let’s live up to the slogan ‘Green and Clean’. We still have time and let’s use this precious time correctly and start preserving what we have now at every level of the community as environmental change affects all and spares none.
